Greeting to Kateryna Romanenchuk
The Keeper of the Pokuttia Traditions
On 20, July Kateryna Romanenchuk, a craftswoman famous for her achievements in weaving, embroidery and bead work, celebrates her birthday.
She is the member of the Zhuravka Regional Union of Folk Art Masters and Ukrainian Women’s Union.
The artist lives and works in the village of Kornych, Kolomyya district. She has been a weaver for over 30 years and has been managing the local museum of her native village.
Her creative career started in 1969 when she was invited to join a carpet factory. She has also continued working in her private workshop since.
Kateryna Romanenchuk has mastered numerous stitches. The craftswoman decorates and weaves men shirts, women belts, traditional wrap skirts, children clothes.
The artist has participated in numerous exhibitions in Ukraine and abroad. Her personal exhibitions took place in Kolomyya, Ivano-Frankivsk, Zaporizhzhia, Kyiv, Lindlar (Germany).
The National Museum’s collection includes six works by Kateryna Romanenchuk.
