    Maria Stefak’s Gift For Weaving

    On May, 22, 1960 a prominent Ukrainian craftswoman Maria Stefak was born in the village of Runhury, Kolomyya District Ivano-Frankivsk region.

    As a girl,  Maria developed her skills in embroidery and moved on to weaving under the guidance of the local devotees of folk arts.

    In Memoriam Of Oksana Hayeva

    National Museum hosted an event in memoriam of a scientific worker of a Central State Historical Archive of Ukraine in Lviv Oksana Hayeva.

    Oksana Hayeva dedicated her work to a research on the life and heritage of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic clerics, Metropolitan Archbishop of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church Andriy Sheptytskyi, and Klymentiy Sheptytskyi.

    At the end of February Yaremcha Ethography and Ecology museum presented Anna Voloshyn exhibition “ By the rainbow language”. Anna Voloshyn is a member of an artistic organisation in Ivano-Frankivsk. A lot of guests from Kyiv, Ivano-Frankivsk, Kolomyia, Rakhiv, friends and relatives came to admire artist’s works. Musical folk band met all the guests and created warm and joyful atmosphere.

    The Importance of the Pokuttia Region

    National Museum hosted a seminar on the topic of the traditional Pokuttia folk arts.

    The event was a part of the Pokuttia based project fulfilled by a famous local folk artist Hanna Vintoniak.

    The Legendary Museum Keeper

    The personality of the National Museum’s keeper Liubomyr Krechkovskyi’s (26.12.1919 – 28.03.1999) has become a legend of the local community.

    He has worked in the Museum for 53 years and each Museum worker has preserved the fond memories of his as an intelligent man and passionate patriot, good family man and a father.
