It is one of the oldest and most famous Ukrainian museums possesing the collection of about 50,000 items from the perioud of Trypillya culture to nowadays. 18 showrooms represent various kinds of Hutsul and Pokuttya folk art.
Especially interesting are the samples of wood carving in dwellings and churches, furniture, agricultural implements, household items, musical instruments, etc. Metal and horn artistic pieces decorated by engraving, incrustation, hot and cold forging, as well as weaving are widely demonstrated. There are also artistic leather items, such as "keptar", "kozhuh" (shipskin coats), men's wallets, cheres (belt), elegant belts and postoly (). People's clothing combines the art of weaving, embroidery, leather working and knitting. Artistic ceramic items illustrate the development of pottery in Pokuttya and Hutsulshchyna area.
An important place in the museum's exposition is taken by pysanka. Hutsul toys-amulets made from cheese are of much interest. Exhibition is embolished by the works of folk painting, painting on glass and wooden items. Highly artistic works of the dynasty of Shkriblyaks, V. Devdyuk, Korpanyuks, Korbovi, O. Bahmatyuk, P. Koshak, H. Vasylanchuk, M. Medvidchuk, I. Semenko, P. Harinchuk, H. Herasymovych, Ilkiv, H. Vintonyak, I. Antonyuk, V. Hus, M. Tymkiv, Voloshchuks, V. Kabyn, P. Tsvilyk, P. Namayka, Kihnevyches and many other talented artists are among the exhibits.
